In support of people of Halabja and other areas that were the victim of chemical bombing by Saddam’s regime, the Kurdish National Congress filed a law suit on April 7, 2009. The defendants include Republic of Iraq and chemical companies and equipment suppliers such as VWR International, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Alcolac that provided material to Saddam’s regime.
On Thursday, February 25, 2010, in the first court hearing before a federal judge in Baltimore the lawyer of Alcoloc asked the judge to drop the case because of the status of limitation. Our lawyer argued there was no opportunity for the Kurds to pursue the case before toppling Saddam.
Like any other legal matter, to proceed with this case our legal team needs financial resources. At KNC-NA we have done everything we could. In order to make further progress we need the support of everyone who believes that the victims of chemical bombings in Kurdistan should be compensated. Please make a tax deductible contribution in support of Halbalja’s case.
